A comparative study of the efficacy and safety of thiocolchicoside and chlorzoxazone in patients with acute musculoskeletal pain

Background: Thiocolchicoside and chlorzoxazone are commonly used muscle relaxants for the management of acute musculoskeletal pain. However, there is limited evidence comparing their efficacy safety. Aims Objectives: The aim study was to compare safety thiocolchicoside in patients with Materials Methods: This a randomized, open-label, parallel-group conducted tertiary care hospital. A total 50 pain were randomized receive either (8 mg) or (500 thrice daily 7 days. primary outcome measure change intensity from baseline Day 7, assessed using visual analog scale (VAS). secondary measures percentage reduction incidence adverse events. Results: characteristics similar both groups. mean 7.2±1.3 group 7.1±1.2 group. After days treatment, drugs significantly reduced baseline. at 2.9±1.1 3.1±1.2 59.7%±12.3% 56.3%±11.5% no statistically significant difference between groups terms (P=0.453). Conclusion: results this suggest that equally effective safe choice drug may depend on patient’s individual risk factors.
